The history of MARLENKA International is closely tied to its founder, Gevorg Avetisjan. Due to war and instability, Gevorg Avetisjan travelled from Armenia to Frýdek-Místek in the Czech Republic at the turn of the millennium.

In 2003, with the help of his sister, he founded MARLENKA International. The company was named in honour of Gevorgsʼ mother, and the company logo and wrappings proudly display an image of his daughter.

At inception the company only had a single employee, but year after year this has grown dramatically. Today, MARLKENKA employs over 265 people, produces more than 8.5 million products a year and exports to 44 countries around the world, making it a globally recognized brand with a strong Czech identity built on family tradition.

MARLKENKA honey cakes and other honey desserts follow ancient Armenian family recipes and because of their success the MARLENKA brand has become a classic sweet dessert in every Czech household, which in Armenia is called ‘The Miracle from Honey’.

Other popular products of MARLENKA are honey nuggets, honey snacks, honey rolls, pachlava, napoleonky and eclairs. These products are also produced in gluten-free versions and are all perfectly complemented by MARLENKA coffee, which matches the sweet taste of honey desserts to their rich coffee.

Only the best ingredients are used for these honey products and they are all carefully selected. MARLENKA products contain no preservatives or artificial colors. This combined with the long tradition of honey cake production has created a revolution in the confectionary world.

There is no other cake or dessert with a milky caramel cream base that can stay smooth and luscious for 90 days at temperatures up to 24°C or 9 months at temperature up to 8°C.

MARLENKA products remain smooth, delicate and tasty, as if they were just produced — even after these periods. This is due to MARLENKAʼs production process, which meets strict food standards set by the IFS and BRC.

And in 2019, MARLENKA has achieved the AA grade rating through a BRC evaluation with an IFS certification value of 99.7%.
